Release: Share Our Strength Response to Hurricanes Fiona and Ian

September 30, 2022

Washington, DC - We are closely monitoring the impact of Hurricane Fiona in Puerto Rico and Hurricane Ian in Florida. We’ve been in touch with our staff and partners on the ground to provide support and assess needs. With the affected areas struggling with power outages, floods and structural damage, this means no school, no school meals, no home refrigeration, and a situation where many kids and families are facing hunger.

We have provided emergency grants to help provide food and supplies to communities in Puerto Rico and are evaluating more ways to help as the long-term impact of the storm becomes apparent.

In Florida, we will be making significant investments in emergency relief and recovery efforts to provide food and supplies over the coming days and weeks. We are also exploring direct support to school nutrition efforts in the hardest hit areas.

We are sending strength to all affected by these disasters.
