Billy and Debbie Shore found Share Our Strength as a response to the famine in Ethiopia.
1988
Some of the nation’s best restaurants raise nearly $250,000 at the first-ever Taste of the Nation event.
1992
We launch "Charge Against Hunger", one of the first national successful cause marketing campaigns, raising over $20 million for anti-hunger groups across the country.
1993
Share Our Strength launches a nutrition education program now called Cooking Matters, teaching low-income families how to shop and cook healthy on a budget.
1997
Share Our Strength launches Community Wealth Partners, an independent consulting firm.
2006
Initial pilot projects for what would become No Kid Hungry get underway in communities across the country.
2008
Share Our Strength launches the national Dine Out for No Kid Hungry fundraiser (then called The Great American Dine Out).
2010
The official launch of the No Kid Hungry campaign with Jeff Bridges.
2015
We launch Chefs Cycle for No Kid Hungry, a 300-mile endurance bike ride that quickly becomes a premiere fundraising event for chefs.
